January 2008 update
In July of 2007, I relocated Arizona Image Is... to Bisbee, Ariz., a small town
in the southeastern corner of the state just north of Mexico and just west of
New Mexico. Bisbee, the Cochise County seat with a population of around 6,000,
was one of the copper capitals of the world at the turn of the 20th century.
Now a delightfully quirky artist community
with a very diverse population, Bisbee is scenic, steeped in the history of the
wild West and the climate is mild – a true photographer’s paradise.
Actually, the move to Bisbee was a homecoming of sorts. I first moved here in
1993, to become news editor for The Bisbee Observer and met my husband in
the nearby town of Palominas a year later. But, I made many visits to Bisbee
prior to moving here.
My first visit was Halloween weekend
of 1987 and I was hooked. Bisbee became my escape from rampant growth in Phoenix
and offered endless images to capture.

Now that I'm back,
I find there’s still no end of things to photograph here.
Just a few days after I arrived, I
snapped an incredible picture of San Jose Mountain at sunrise. The clouds were
inverted at the base of the mountain and the monsoons had painted the normally
arid grasslands below a vibrant green. And all I had to do to find this image
was walk out my back door.
If you look at my photo gallery, you'll see images captured of the shrine nestled in
the rocks overlooking Bisbee and Sulfur Valley from the west, rustic Hidden
Valley near Deer Point and folks attending the 2007 Bisbee Blues Festival.
Some of these images are on display
in locally. Images of the Muheim House are in the lobby of the Bisbee
Daily Review. San Jose Mountain, hangs at Wells Fargo Bank in Douglas .Five of my images were juried into exhibits at
PanTerra Gallery when
it was located on
Brewery Gulch.
